In 1991, there was a need for something produced locally that expressed an Australian voice in typography.  Being typographers, what's important for Letterbox is the content and meaning of language. The studio structure has been carefully engineered over 20 years to be self-supporting so that the publications can be produced with no external funding required...Elevating what is produced as 'art', making precious limited editions or conducting internalised self-expression runs counter to how we work...
