Happy Holiday Season!
This issue is the printmaking issue and I couldn’t be more delighted to finally include the article on Wayzgoose Press by Lawrence Finn. Twenty-six years of printing is no mean feat! Ron McBurnie’s profile by Sandra Wright is best expressed by her words: ’Each print...must be viewed as an episode in a grand interconnecting narrative of life...devised to make the message memorable, collaborative work’.
Sandy Webster has visited Australia numerous times and her books are in collections at the State libraries in Qld and Vic. They are testimony to her love of our country. It’s again with pleasure that we feature the delicate work of Dave Wood with his all new Rubiayat, completely illustrated in his inimitable, calligraphic style. Vanessa Berry discusses zines in Manly; Peta Lloyd (Bowerbird Studio) enlightens us with ways to make good use of our kitchens for other things besides cooking; Barb Adams’ books demonstrate a love of papermaking and the profile on Sandra Wright shows her as a printmaker in her own right whose evolving practice grows with experience. Assistant Professor Robert Barnet Riter of Alabama, USA, discusses the way catalogues represent artist books in his considered essay.
And last of all, we get to feature some of the amazing entries in the Bound and Bagged and the Matchbox Zine projects (p.38-48) in an online exhibition! Do check out the website for all the submitted works. Go to ONLINE EXHIBITION, GALLERY 2. And again, to all the contributors of articles, to the artists whose work has appeared in the journal, and to those of you who encouraged and supported me in this private venture, it’s been a pleasure working with you. Thank you.
